If you are interested in relocating to Kuwait in order to find employment, you will need to know how to get a work visa for Kuwait in order to live and work legally in the country. Employer Sponsorship

To be permitted to reside and work within Kuwait, overseas applicants must obtain an iqama, or residency visa. This is only possible if you have already been offered a job in Kuwait, either by a government organization or by a private company.

Once you have been offered a post, your new employer can then apply for the residency visa on your behalf. Once this has been done, you will be issued with a NOC or No Objection Certificate which will entitle you to enter the country.

Once you have entered the country, you will be issued with your residency visa as long as you meet the other essential criteria including the medical testing element. You can only be granted a maximum period of five years residency after which you will be required to renew your application.

You will be charged a fee of KD 10 per year, however if you will be working for a government organization, your employer will pay this amount for you. If you will be working for a private company, you will need to negotiate whether you will bear the cost or whether you new employer will be prepared to cover the amount on your behalf.

Necessary Documentation

If you wish to apply for a Kuwait work visa, you will require a current passport with at least three months unexpired validity on it. It will also require a minimum of one empty page to receive your visa.

You will also have to send one passport photograph of yourself which meets all of the required guidelines. You will also need to supply a police clearance from your home country stating that you have a clean criminal record and that there are no restrictions on you leaving your own country of origin. You will, of course, also have to submit a completed and signed visa application form.

Medical Testing

In order to be issued with your residency visa, you will have to pass certain medical tests to show that you have no communicable diseases. As part of this testing, you will have to have an HIV test as well as tests for Hepatitis B and C, tuberculosis, syphilis, typhoid, malaria and filariasis.

You will also need to have a certificate of health from a local doctor which states that you are in good physical health and that you have no contagious diseases of any sort. You will also receive a vaccination to protect you against meningitis.

You will receive the results of these tests within a week, however if you are found to have any of these diseases, you will be deported out of the country. If you have a negative result in all of the tests, you will receive a letter confirming your health clearance from the Ministry of Public Health and once you have received this health clearance, you can then be issued with your residency visa.

Kuwaiti Civil ID

Once you are in receipt of your residency visa, the next step is to apply for a bitaqa-almadaniyah or Kuwaiti Civil ID. You must submit your application for this within thirty days of being issued with your residency visa.

Dependents

A man who has been issued with a residency visa can then apply for his spouse and dependents to join him in Kuwait, acting as their sponsor; however a woman cannot act as a sponsor on behalf of her husband.

Security Clearance and Fingerprinting

Who Can Apply For An H-1B Visa?

Once the cap is reached, no more visa petitions of this type will be accepted for the rest of the year. An employee is eligible to be considered for an H-1B visa if they have a minimum qualification of a Bachelor's degree or higher. They must also be coming to the country to undertake a role that is unique or complex enough to be performed by someone who is in possession of this level of qualification. The applicant must also have the appropriate registration, certification or state license necessary to carry out the specified job and have undertaken the essential training and education or have significant experience in that field.

How Long Does The H-1B Visa Last For?

This visa is usually granted for a period of up to 3 years; however it is possible to extend it for a period of up to a maximum of 6 years. While it is a non-immigrant visa, this is one of the categories of visa which is recognized as a dual intent visa, and this means that the holder of the H-1B visa is allowed to apply for and be issued with a United States Green Card while they are working in the United States under the H-1B visa. Anyone who has been issued with an H-1B visa and who wants to stay in the United States for a longer period than six years is allowed to apply for a Green Card which will allow them to gain permanent residency in the country. Anyone who does not apply for their Green Card while they are working in America under an H-1B visa will have to reside outside of the United States for a minimum of one year once their initial six year period has expired before being allowed to apply for another H-1B visa.

Can Dependents Come To The US Under An H-1B Visa?

Any applicant who is successful in being issued with an H-1B visa is permitted to bring their spouse and any dependent children who are aged less than 21 years into the United States with them. They will enter the country under the H4 visa category which is the category for dependents. This visa type permits the holder to stay in the United States for as long as the holder of the H-1B visa is still holding their legal status. Although holders of the H4 visa are not permitted to work while they are residing in the United States under this visa type, they are allowed to go to school, get a driving license and open an American bank account while they are living in the country.

Holders are not permitted to own more than 10% of their sponsor's shares unless their salary is over £155,300 per annum. They are also forbidden from receiving public funds and applying for a second job until they have commenced working for their sponsor.

Temporary Work Short Stay Visa

This type of temporary visa allows the holder to stay in Australia for a period of up to 3 months and to engage in work of a highly specialized and short term nature. This work must be non-ongoing and the applicant must be invited to apply for this kind of visa by an eligible Australian organization. The applicant must apply for this type of visa from outside the country and there is a possibility of an extension for a period of up to 6 months depending on individual circumstances, although these are limited.

Temporary Work Long Stay Visa

This visa (subclass 401) entitles the holder to stay in Australia for a longer temporary time frame in order to do one of the following:
Engage in full time domestic occupations for senior foreign executives
Participate in sporting activities at a high level
Undertake full time religious work
Work as a skilled employee under a work exchange arrangement
To be eligible for this visa type, you must be sponsored by a relevant employer and have the necessary experience and skills in order to do the job. In order to apply, the applicant may either be inside or outside the country at the time of application. Successful applicants will generally be granted a visa for a period of up to 2 years and sometimes up to 4 years depending on circumstances.

Temporary Work Entertainment Visa

This visa (subclass 420) is a temporary work visa designed purely for those who are working as a performer or support staff member in the entertainment industry. Applicants must be sponsored by a relevant industry employer and can either be inside or outside Australia at the time of application. The maximum period of this visa type's eligibility is 2 years.

What Can Temporary Australian Working Visa Holders Do?

Language

You can be awarded up to 24 points if you are fluent in both English and French (the two official Canadian languages). If you are not fluent in both, you can be awarded up to 16 points for fluency in one of those languages, with up to 8 points available for your second language depending on how good your communication skills are in all of the main disciplines including reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Work Experience

In order to be eligible to apply for a Canadian work visa, you will have to either have an existing job offer from an eligible Canadian employer or you will have to already have skills and experience in one of the employment sectors rated O, A or B featured on the NOC (National Occupational Classification) list. You must have a minimum of one year's full time work experience in one of these occupations in order to be eligible; however you will be awarded more points for a longer period in a skilled employment category. For four years or more within the industry you can gain a maximum of 21 points.

Age

Depending on your age at the time of application you can be awarded a maximum of 10 points. This maximum total will be awarded if you are aged between 20 and 49 with the fewest points awarded to those under 16 or aged over 54.

Arranged Employment 

If you already have an approved offer of employment from a Canadian employer you can be awarded up to 10 points. This job must be unable to be filled by a Canadian resident.

Adaptability

You can gain up to 10 points depending on whether you are coming to the country with a spouse who has good educational qualifications or who has already had study or work experience in Canada.

Funds

Once you have determined that you have more than 67 points, you must meet the financial requirement to emigrate. This means that you will need a minimum of around $11,000 as a single person, and the amount increases on a sliding scale depending on how many dependents you intend to bring with you.

Highly Skilled Workers - Tier 1

The Tier 1 working visa category is based on a points system. Although candidates do not need to have any particular skills in order to be able to apply, they must receive at least 75 points under the assessment criteria. These points will be awarded for experience, qualifications, age and previous earnings as well as ability with the English language. Successful applicants must also be able to prove that they can provide for themselves financially. To apply for this visa, there is no need to already have an offer of employment from a UK company.

Skilled Workers - Tier 2

If you already have an offer of employment from a UK company, you are eligible to apply for a skilled worker permit or Tier 2 visa. There are many employment types covered by this visa including those who are moving to an international branch of their firm, sportsmen and women and religious ministers. Applicants must be sponsored by their potential employer but must still score a minimum of 50 points under the qualification system. Extra points are awarded for excellence in the English language and for the amount of money you are likely to be able to earn.

Low Skilled - Tier 3 (Temporary) 

This visa is available to those who wish to come to the UK on a temporary basis in order to carry out low skilled or entry level work. Under this visa, you must be coming from a country which already has a returns arrangement in place with the UK. To apply, you must already have an offer of employment with a UK company and be able to provide the necessary certificate of sponsorship as evidence for your application. There is no need to be fluent in English if you apply for this visa; however this may be of benefit and may also be a requirement of your employment. If you are granted this visa, you must be aware that you are not able to bring any dependents or family members with you to the UK and that you must return home after a period of no more than 12 months. There is no means of extending this visa into a permanent residency or an indefinite leave to remain.

Student Visa - Tier 4

If you are coming to the UK as a student, your visa will enable you to work on a limited basis too in order to support yourself during your studies. In order to apply, you will need a firm offer of a course place from a UK university as they will be your sponsor. If you are successful, you will be permitted to undertake employment for up to 20 hours per week and during vacations, you are entitled to take full time employment. This visa type allows you to bring dependents into the country with you.

Temporary Workers - Tier 5

If you are coming to the UK to undertake temporary work and you have a potential employer willing to act as a sponsor, the Tier 5 visa may be right for you. You will probably need at least 40 points under the qualifying system and enough finances to be able to support yourself. The following people are eligible to apply: 
Unpaid volunteer charity workers 
Religious workers 
Those coming to the UK under a government approved scheme 
Those coming to the UK under the GATS agreement

Temporary Work Visa

Employer Nomination Scheme

Requiring sponsorship from an employer, this type of visa can grant permanent residency. There is no point testing however there are a number of requirements which must be met. The applicant must pass a skills test, have had 3 years work experience, must have competency in English language, be aged under 50 and must be working in an industry on the shortage skills list.

Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme

This permanent visa requires sponsorship from a regional employer. The other requirements are the same as those necessary to be eligible for the Employer Nomination Scheme Visa.

Points Tested Categories

There are some categories of Australian work visa that are points tested. These include:

Skilled Independent Visa

Although this type of permanent visa does not require sponsorship, it requires applicants to have gone through the Skill Select procedure. The applicant's work experience must be within one of the shortage skills categories and they must possess good English skills. They must also be aged fewer than 50 and must be invited to apply.

Skilled Nominated Visa

Very similar to the Skilled Independent visa, the only difference is that the applicant must be sponsored by a state or territory government in order to be eligible.

Skilled Regional Visa

This visa can last for up to 4 years and requires the applicant to have gone through the Skill Select procedure. They must be nominated by either an eligible relative or by a state or territory government. The applicant must be working in one of the shortage skills industries and must be aged fewer than 50 with good English skills.

Skill Select

Many categories of visa require applicants to have used the Skill Select procedure. This is an online service which enables those who have skills that are in demand and are listed on the Consolidated Skills Occupation List to register an Expression of Interest in moving to Australia to work. No fee is charged for submitting an EOI, which enables the applicant to be discovered by Australian employers or local governments who are looking for your skills. This can lead to an invitation to apply for a visa with them acting as sponsor.

Other Temporary Work Visas

Anyone who wishes to only work for a short period in Australia can apply for one of several visa types. These include a Short Stay Activity visa for those who are planning on staying for only a short time frame and will be doing a highly specialized job, an Entertainment Visa for those employed in the entertainment industry, or a Long Stay Activity visa for those who are going to work in specific occupations, including high level sports competitions, domestic work for senior foreign executives, religious work or as part of a work exchange.

Working Holiday Visa

For young people aged between 18 and 30 who wish to come to Australia to travel but also to support them by working, there is a working holiday visa which will allow the applicant to stay in the country for up to a year. Both of these require you to meet several criteria including age, character and health requirements.

Working Holiday Visa

If you only wish to spend a year or two touring New Zealand while making some money at the same time, you may be eligible to apply for a working holiday visa. Receiving an Invitation

If you do receive an invitation to apply for a work permit, you must then lodge your application within a period of 60 days. Sponsored Work Permits

If you cannot apply under the skilled worker category as your chosen employment is not listed on the SOL, you can still apply for a work permit in Australia if you can find sponsorship from an Australian business. Also, once you've acquired your work permit, you will need to renew it after a period of one year. This is often done within 2 and 1/2 months of the stated expiry date of the permit. The new permit will be valid for 2 years. If you apply the third time, it will be valid for 3 years and so on.
